Things To Do & See Near The Moogerah Lake Houses
Kalbar Town Centre
The historical Kalbar township is 13 minutes away. Here you can experience a treasure trove of handcrafted delights, interesting decorator items and antiques. Kalbar also has a great selection of eateries; you may also grab a wider selection of groceries at the Kalbar Spar Express.
Boonah Town Centre
The bustling rural township of Boonah is 16 minutes away. Boonah is the closest major town to Moogerah. Boonah’s High Street has novelty stores, gifts, café’s, a choice of local pubs and a large IGA.
Aratula Town Centre
The small village of Aratula is 9 minutes away. Aratula is best known for it’s local produce but also has arts and craft outlets, cafes and a bakery. It’s also home to the Winter Harvest Festival.
Templin Historical Museum

Scenic Rim Brewery & Cafe is in the picturesque town of Mt Alford, 12 minutes away. It is a small family-owned brewery (part brewery, part café). As this venue is only small, it is advisable to call ahead to book a table (5463 0412).

Scenic Rim Farm Shop & Café 20 minutes away: This is one of our favourite places to visit, particularly in the months when the Jacaranda Trees are in bloom (late spring through summer).

Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard
Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard is about 13 minutes’ drive.
Kooroomba Vineyard & Lavender Farm
Kooroomba Vineyards and Lavender Farm located 16 minutes away. The property consists of a cellar door, restaurant and lavender shop which overlook a six-hectare vineyard and a breathtaking lavender field. Ensure you call ahead before visiting, it closes to the public when hosting a wedding.
Summer Land Camels
Summer Land Camels (Camel Farm) is everything camels: camel milk, camel cheese, camel gelato, camel rides, camel education, camel skincare…and camel vodka! They even offer sunrise camel ride and breakfast, and sunset cocktails with the camels. Bookings (Online) are essential, as are closed in shoes.
Naughty Little Kids
Naughty Little Kids (Goat Farm) is a family run business based in Peak Crossing 35 Minutes away. They are a fantastic family event for all ages, including small children. Purchase Tickets Online.
Kalbar Sunflower Farm
Sunshine and Sunflowers Farm Visit is close-by in Kalbar and is open to the public when flowers are in bloom. Please check website for tickets/availability.
Rainforest Circuit & Mt Cordeaux Track
The Rainforest Circuit is a short and easy walk that has breathtaking views of Volcanic Peaks. The Rainforest Circuit is 1.6km (30 Mins), but if your after a harder walk, continue along the Mt Cordeaux Track for Spectacular Views back to Brisbane
Mt Edwards Summit
Overlooks the magnificent Lake Moogerah and is apart of the Moogerah Peak National Park. The hike is approximately 6km’s (3-3.5 Hours) return and can be quite steep in certain places. The view at the top is just beautiful and overlooks Kalbar and the Agricultural Land surrounding the Town.
Mt Mitchell Track
This graded walking track to the Twin Peaks of Mt Mitchell begins on the Southern Side of the Highway and passes through Rainforest and open Eucalypt Forest. The walking track is approximately 10.2km (3 Hours) return. You’ll feel on top of the world at the Lookout.
Secret Jump Rock
The perfect place to cool off on a hot Summer Afternoon and if you like cliff-jumping then you’ll love this remote spot even more. There’s no official access or track but it’s well worth the adventure.
Fishing Permit
There is good fishing to be done in the three lakes of the Scenic Rim. Maroon and Moogerah Dams are covered by the Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme, so a permit is required. You can purchase a permit online at www.smartservice.qld.gov.au
Moogerah Boat Ramp
Boating - Lake Moogerah is a popular spot for boats, skiing, jetskiing, SUP, canoeing and kayaking. There are two public boat ramps and waters are well signed. Launching, retrieving and beaching on land around the lake is not allowed except at signed recreation areas.
